ISSMA Solo & Ensemble Hosting
New Palestine Intermediate School
Saturday, January 28, 2023
Thank you for giving your time to support the choir students at New Palestine High School.
The Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Solo & Ensemble contest hosting was awarded to New Palestine High School in 2012. The event features students from the following schools:
All schools in Beech Grove
All schools in Franklin Twp.
All schools in Warren Twp.
All schools in Decatur Twp.
All Hancock County Schools
All schools in Perry Twp.
All schools in Wayne Twp.
Indianapolis Public Schools
All schools in Indianapolis. Center Twp.
This event will also involve performance and judging of choir students from New Palestine High School as well as New Palestine Junior High. Those students receiving "Gold" rankings under a "Group I" category are invited to the ISSMA State Solo & Ensemble contest , which will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023.
Choir students will be used for awards tables, runners and judges assistants. Areas where we need parent help include the following:
Door Monitors - Checking-in students, working with the Judge and Judge Assistant and keeping the room on schedule.
Concessions - Sale of food and beverages to guests
Tabulation and Scoring - Working in Headquarters to confirm score sheets and log results.
Visiting Director Hospitality
Information Station
Time slots where help is needed are as follows:
Friday Setup - After School concludes (arranging performance classrooms and checking pianos).
Saturday Morning (Door Monitors) - 7:30 am until approximately 11:45 am
Saturday Afternoon (Door Monitors) - 11:30 am until approximately 4:00 pm
Saturday Morning (Concessions) - 8:00 am until 11:00 am (approximately)
Saturday Mid-Day (Concessions) - 10:30 am until 1:30 pm
Saturday Evening Clean-Up, after the soloists are finished (returning classrooms to their original setup).
Door Monitor workers should arrive at the Library (ISSMA Headquarters location) upon arrival for their shift. They will have a brief introduction and review instructions for the day, then have an opportunity to ask questions. Door Monitors should plan to dress "business casual" for their shifts (Dress Pants/Slacks - No Jeans or Tennis Shoes, please). While at the Door, they will have an opportunity to sit while performances occur but their task is to keep the room on-schedule as much as possible, plus keep those in the hallway waiting to perform informed of the schedule and to keep noise distractions to a minimum. Door Monitors can take a break but if you need food and/or a snack, please bring something with you.
Concession workers should report to the NPI Cafeteria for their Work Shift.
Tabulation and Scoring workers should report to the NPI Library upon arrival for their shift.
Importantly, this is a fundraising event for New Palestine High School. We will sell refreshments and other items at the event and all proceeds will benefit the General Choir Fund for NPHS Choirs. Also, this is an excellent opportunity to make those who attend feel welcome, answer any questions, and really show what a great community we have.
