Competition Follow-Up Notes:
Not only did we have great current parent and family support at Warren Central, but we had a tremendous presence from past alumni and past parents. Thank you to everyone who came out to support us this past weekend. Those who attended were treated to what we felt were the very best performances either group has given this year so far. Plus, the Warren Performing Arts Center is a wonderful venue for our students to experience first-hand. Here are the final results from the day at Warren Central:
WOMEN'S DIVISION:
1. North Central High School, Descants - Grand Champion (Best Vocals, Best Visuals and Best Band Awards)
2. New Palestine High School, Diamond Sensations
3. Lawrence Central High School, Sweet Sensations
MIXED DIVISION:
1. Lawrence Central High School, Central Sound - Grand Champion (Best Visuals and Best Vocals Award)
2. North Central High School, Counterpoints
3. Avon High School, Accents
Only the top 3 Mixed choirs advanced to Night Finals and while Crimson Heat was close to the 3rd spot, they did not compete again and ended with a 4th place finish trophy.
Additional Awards For New Palestine High School:
Both choirs continued to improve and refine their shows this week and there were no major issues. Scores for both groups were improved upon the previous week at Ben Davis. Diamond Sensations finishing in 2nd (1st Runner-Up) and beating both Lawrence Central and Avon was a huge accomplishment for New Palestine High School Show Choir and let's us know that we can compete with the larger schools and not come-away empty-handed.
We've now reached the "halfway" portion of the 2017 Competition season with only two shows left until State Finals selection.

Here is the one-page summary posted to the Facebook Fan Page on February 22, 2017:
If you are planning to attend this competition, here are a few additional points for your awareness:
- Please note that this is the first year of the Warren Central Circle City Showcase and details noted here may differ slightly from what you experience at Warren Central. Also, please try to be patient and understanding with workers and volunteers at this event as they won't have the same experience we see at other competitions.
- All Show Choirs will perform in the Auditorium, also known as the WPAC (Warren Performing Arts Center) . As with all competitions, once a performance starts, they will shut the doors and they will not allow entry until after the performance is over. We strongly recommend you arrive in time to see the group before either Diamond Sensations or Crimson Heat to ensure you are in the proper location for the performance.
- The spectator entrance is door # 27 at the front of the Warren Performing Arts Center.
- An Admission Ticket for $10 will allow you access to both all of the Women's and Mixed Show Choir "Day Performances" - through the Awards at 4:00 pm. This ticket range is from age 11 and above. An "all day ticket" to allow access to all performances for the entire day is $15. If you do not purchase an "all day" ticket for $15 upon your arrival and one of our choirs makes "Evening Finals" and you wish to stay, an evening show ticket will cost another $10. There is no way to predict if either or both show choirs will reach the Night Show, so we don’t know how to advise you on your purchase. Childen Tickets (age 5 through 10) are $5 for the entire day. Children under age 5 are free. When you purchase tickets, please be aware of the differences in ticket prices for adults and students, plus whether you want "day session only" or "all day" as the greeters will prompt you.
- Warren Central is the smallest attended competition with only 10 total choirs competing in the Unisex and Mixed Choir Divisions. There is no "Small School" division as New Palestine is the lone "Small School" division attending this competition.
- The Warren Central Circle City Showcase is an ISSMA qualifier. The scores received by either Diamond Sensations or Crimson Heat can be used for submission at ISSMA finals. The best possible score received by either show choir is always the primary objective of any competition and not necessarily the final finishing order or whether or not they qualify for the Night Show.
- The Top 3 overall Women’s choirs, the top 3 overall Mixed choirs will move on to the Night Show.
- The top 3 Women's Finalists will be announced at 12:25 pm. We will know around 12:30 pm if Diamond Sensations is moving-on to the Night Show. At 4:00 pm in the Auditorium, they will have Daytime Awards and announce the top three Mixed Choirs moving on to the Night Show. We should know by roughly 4:15 pm whether we will be staying for the Night Show or not.
- If either group qualifies for the "Night Show", both groups should plan to remain onsite through the end of the NPHS choir performance. The Night Show runs from approximately 5:30 pm through 10:00 pm. Note that if neither group qualifies for night finals, then we will pack up and return to NPHS around 5:15 pm.
- Warren Central didn't list information about photography. Please be courteous and follow posted and announced guidelines by Warren Central. For NPHS Choir, we always say, "no flash photography allowed" as the flash is very distracting to the performers.
- After their performances, both groups will immediately go to a "video review" of the performance they just completed. They will then see the same 20+ minute performance. Following the video review, they will change, organize and hang-up their costumes, then return to the auditorium to see other performances or to the cafeteria for food. Please be aware that they will not be available to see you until at least the conclusion of the next show choir following their performance.
- Food - the school cafeteria will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as concessions. No outside food may be brought into the school.
