If you are planning to attend this competition, here are a few additional points for your awareness:
- East Noble's 2020 Competition is one performance only. This year, they do not have a Night Finals. The reason for this is because they had very strong registration this year and they have so many small school choirs and so many large school choirs that they chose to separate the two and the evening competition is for large schools only. We have seen this format at East Noble in the past, but it's been several years.
- This is the fourth time New Palestine Choirs have attended the "Knight Edition" show choir competition at East Noble High School. The last time we visited was 2019.
- An Admission Ticket for $15 will allow you access to both all of the Unisex and Mixed Show Choir Performances for the entire day. There isn't a "Day Show" ticket and a "Night Show" ticket like we see at most events. Just the one ticket will get you into any event. Children 10 and under are free.
- All performances take place on the stage in Cole Auditorium at East Noble High School.
- This competition will have a good mix of Small School choirs for both Unisex and Mixed choirs. Since the "day show" is all small school, you are encouraged to come and stay for awhile to see other choirs that are in the same division as Crimson Heat and Diamond Sensations. Note that there are only 3 Small School Unisex groups - New Pal, Southmont and Columbia City. There is a Franklin Community JV Mixed group competing as a "Small Large School" (new terminology this year to classify a Large School entering a JV Large School ensemble as a "Small School) and they will be in-competition with Crimson Heat while Franklin Community's Varsity Mixed group will perform as "large school". Because Diamond Sensations performs in the middle of the three, they will likely leave the stage and then come into the Auditorium to see Columbia City perform (otherwise, they will miss seeing any of their competition). This is a rare change in our usual protocol where we go back and change out of costumes finishing a performance.
- The East Noble Knight Edition competition is an ISSMA qualifier. The scores received by either Diamond Sensations or Crimson Heat can be used for submission at ISSMA finals. The best possible score received by either show choir is always the primary objective of any competition and not necessarily the final finishing position. Regardless of the expected outcome, both choirs must always give a 100% performance because you don't know what the judges might decide.
- Because Small School Awards are end the end of the day, we'll wrap-up and leave East Noble around 6 pm Eastern. We'll pack-up and head for home, stopping for dinner on the way back from Fort Wayne, then plan to arrive back around 9 pm.
- East Noble didn't list information about photography. Please be courteous and follow posted and announced guidelines by the host school. For NPHS Choir, we always say, "no flash photography allowed" as the flash from the audience is very distracting to the performers and we need them focused 100% on their performance.
- There is no video review listed on the schedule or mentioned in the packet. Students will be encouraged to get back into the Auditorium to see as many other schools as possible.
- Food - the school cafeteria will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as concessions. No outside food may be brought into the school.
