There will be photos taken of both groups, prior to their performances. The photographer will print 8X10 photos of each group on-stage and provide them to Mr. Beebe. Students have an option to purchase these pictures at the time they are taken, but there is no obligation to purchase a photo. The photos are approximately $20 each and they typically take a "posed" picture and a fun picture. Please be aware that this picture is not part of the $500 fee and students who request a picture will need to pay for these upon our return to New Palestine High School. The two attachments above explain further information regarding the pictures.
Overview/Trip Description
Every other school year, a trip is planned for members of Diamond Sensations and Crimson Heat to travel to Branson, Missouri. This trip is presented to the CSCSHC School Board for approval at the beginning of the school year and the trip typically happens in the Spring, after Spring Break, near the end of the school year. For the 2018-2019 school year, the CSCSHC has approved the Branson Trip scheduled for April 4-7, 2019.
The trip is planned both for fun and a learning opportunity for both show choirs at NPHS. The trip is 3.5 days in duration, leaving around 12:00 noon on a Thursday and returning on Sunday evening. The trip from New Palestine to Branson typically involves a brief stop for 1-1.5 hours at "The City Museum" in St. Louis, MO, then arriving in Branson late on Thursday evening. On Friday and Saturday, a portion of the day is entertainment, such as a local museum or Silver Dollar City amusement park, then dinner, and an evening show. On each day one of the two show choirs will go to the venue where the evening show will be seen and they work with a current Branson performer/choreographer on their show choir competition show. They will not be learning a new show, but instead, they will perform their Full 20-25 minute 2019 Show Choir Competition Show. After a run-through of the show and some time spent with the Branson performer, they prepare for their performance. The following day, the other show choir has the same routine. While one show choir is at their venue, working on their show, Chaperones are expected to divide-up and ensure there's adequate supervision for the choir left on-site at the hotel. On the specific night, either Diamond Sensations or Crimson Heat will be the "opening act" for the show that they will watch that evening. These performances allow both groups to display their shows and the hard work of the competition season, to a paying audience while on-stage at Branson, Missouri. The trip home typically involves a brief stop in Springfield, Missouri at the Bass Pro Shop outlet for some shopping before the final journey home.
The trip is a combination of work, a performance learning opportunity, and some fun watching a few great shows while enjoying time with friends.

This Trip Enrollment Form was given to the students the week of October 22, 2018 and it was presented at the Oct. 22 Booster Meeting. A form needs to be completed and signed by a parent/guardian. All participants, including chaperones, need to submit a completed form. Note, chaperones need to complete the "Part IV" section - you are the participant in a Chaperone case - Chaperones do not complete the guardian section but they still need to sign the back of the form. ALL Chaperones also need to have a background check completed and confirmed with CSCSHC.

This itinerary was provided to the students on February 12, 2019. This is the full agenda of all events for the 4 days of the trip. This can be used for parents to plan, if they want to try and drive to the performances, or for chaperones and students to know what they will be doing.

Branson Trip Payment Plan
The total cost for the trip is $500 per attendee (including Chaperones). If you are attending this trip as a Chaperone with your student, a total of $1000 is due and periodic payments become $200. If there a multiple Chaperones per student, this cost continues to increase $500 and each payment increases by $100.
Payments can be sent at any time, but please note the following payment schedule: - Wednesday, October 31, 2018 - Initial commitment date and $100 deposit per attendee. - Wednesday, November 28, 2018 - $100 payment - Wednesday, January 16, 2019 - $100 payment - Wednesday, February 13, 2019 - $100 payment - Wednesday, March 13, 2019 - $100 payment Note that as of January 1, 2019, refunds may not be possible. This is because we will need to finalize the headcount to Academic Travel Services, so that they can prepare the agenda and we can determine our final costs (chaperones plus students). Any changes to attendance after January 1, 2019 may still incur a cost or penalty to NPHS Choirs - we may be liable for the entire cost of the student or chaperone(s). Several students have already participated in fundraising efforts to offset the $500 total. Additional individual student fundraising opportunities will occur in November and December 2018. |
Attendance on this trip is strongly encouraged, but not required. If you do not plan for your student to attend this trip, it is important that you communicate this information to Mr. Beebe as soon as possible and prior to October 31, 2018.
While we would like for all show choir students to be able to attend, we understand not everyone may be available to make this trip.
While we would like for all show choir students to be able to attend, we understand not everyone may be available to make this trip.
NOTE: If you plan to attend the Branson Trip as a Chaperone on this trip, we will need to ensure you have a background check that's been approved by the CSCSHC.
Branson Trip - Questions & Answers:
Some of the following questions and answers were provided at the October 3, 2016 meeting. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please direct them to either the NPHS Choir Boosters Email address - [email protected] - or contact Mr. Beebe directly at [email protected].
Q. What do students do on Thursday, April 4, 2018, the day they leave?
A. Students going on this trip will arrive for school as normal and attend their first few classes. They should have their packed luggage with them. The buses will depart around 12:00 noon from NPHS. Students will have a box lunch provided to them by NPHS Choir Boosters.
Q. Do we need the $100 deposit for just the students or also for chaperones?
A. If a parent plans to chaperone, they need to provide a $100 deposit by Monday, October 31, 2018, along-with the $100 for their student. This is to ensure we have planned for enough space on the bus, rooms, etc.
Q. When will the Itinerary be Final and we'll know which day the choirs are performing?
A. The itinerary given to the students is "tentative" and was used for presentation to the CSCSHC School Board. This is not a final agenda. We should know the finalized agenda, hotel details and performance venues around Thanksgiving Break or very early December.
Q. Can I use any excess funds in my student choir account for the initial deposit payment?
A. Yes. If you have excess funds in your student account and you want this applied towards the Branson Trip, that is fine. Unless stated otherwise, we will apply any excess funds towards the initial $100 payment due at the end of October, 2018. If you already have excess amount of fundraising in your account, then you simply need to confirm your student participation and communicate with our Treasurer, Allison Woodall, on what you plan to do with the remaining balance.
Q. How can I find out how much fundraising money my student has already?
A. Contact the NPHS Choir Boosters Treasurer, Allison Woodall, and she should be able to provide you information on your individual student fundraising credit.
Q. Will there be any more individual student fundraising opportunities available?
A. At this time, the Crew Carwash Fundraiser and Pie Fundraiser in November are additional opportunities for students to raise individual funds. We may have a few other opportunities that we are discussing and that you will hear via Email communication. This is in-addition to the Century Resources Fundraiser that ended in September.
Q. How many chaperones do you need to take on this trip?
A. We plan for approximately 6 chaperones on the trip but we have no determined limit for how many chaperones can attend.
Q. How are chaperone rooms handled?
A. Chaperones will be expected to "share rooms", separate from the students, but nearby. We will would like to place 2 or more chaperones in a room, such as "3 women" or "2 men". If you require a private room to yourself, individual costs to you will be higher than the base $500 fee. If you have any questions about this, please contact Mr. Beebe ASAP as your room decisions may affect costs.
Q. Can we come-along on the trip separately, but not be a chaperone?
A. Each time we visit Branson, we have some parents who make the trip separately. You are welcome to drive on your own, but please note that some years we have been able to get tickets for "sold out" shows. Meaning, we have tickets for the students and chaperones on the trip, but there would be no additional seats available for purchase at the venue. Once a "final itinerary" is published and you decide you'd like to take the trip, you can contact the venues individually to determine availability. Be aware also that if you plan to match the itinerary of your student, we will be visiting some places for a very short period of time, such as "Silver Dollar City" amusement park for only about 4 hours. Lastly, if you are planning on attending this trip to spend time with your student (not as a chaperone), they will intentionally have a very full itinerary and won't have much "down time".
Q. If I chaperone, will I be able to spend time with my student(s)?
A. Chaperone's on this trip need to be in-charge of roughly 10-15 students and assist with any needs that may arise for the students. You will be able to spend time with your own student, but you will also need to make sure you are accessible and watching-out for all other students from either Diamond Sensations or Crimson Heat, as well as assisting Mr. Beebe with any needs regarding the trip or the students. A chaperone on this type of a trip should be willing and eager to help wherever needed.
